How to get a foot in the door NHS speech therapy

Hi, I'd be grateful for any advice for my DD, who qualified as a Speech and Language therapist last July.
She wants to work with children, at her first interview she was told it was essential to be a driver, so started learning but there were covid backlogs so couldn't get a test until March .She passed and has my car.
In the meantime, she wanted relevant experience so asked alot of schools and again there were delays, but has been volunteering at a preschool and going in to a primary to make speech and language assessments.
Jobs are few, she was interviewed yesterday and got good feedback but they said her experiences and volunteering needed to be linked in to the NHS. It is currently impossible to get a NHS volunteering role in a relevant area.
What should she do now?
It's so frustrating as apparently there is a huge unmet need.
Are there any SLTs who could advise, please?

NHS SALT here. A few thoughts:

  • Is she tied to an area? There are generally more jobs in big cities. I am in London and we recruit several new grads each year without expecting experience. Post pandemic we have less applicants.
  • Around here there are independent companies you can apply for too. Whilst I would recommend the NHS as a first job if possible, it's another option. Is there anything locally?
  • Her schools experience particularly sounds great. That's frustrating it's not getting her anywhere!
  • The new financial year has just started and we are coming up towards the new school year. This can be a good time for recruitment, especially if she is willing to apply to a wide geographical circle.
  • Look for anywhere taking on band 5's on bank. It's less competitive but can possibly lead to a very similar job, which also builds experience. Again may be more likely in big cities.
