Degree certificate- lost?

Hi all,

Can you point me in the right direction. I've got a new job after 16 years at current employer. New place has asked for copies of degree certificate. God it's been years! Not sure where I kept them! I'll obviously still look in the loft but if I can't find them- is there a way to get a new copy? Contact my Uni?

Contact the uni records office for a replacement, it’s expensive unfortunately

I've literally just done this so hopefully I can be of some help. I emailed the university to find out their policie and they sent me a form to fill in to receive a replacement so that's where I would start.

The certificate cost £35 so you may have to pay and it says on it that it is a replacement but that's not a problem as it's a very common situation. All in all once the form was submitted with a picture of ID it took about 3 days for the new one to arrive.

I was able to get mine ten years after graduating by going on the uni website and finding the section on graduation. I then followed the procedure there and emailed someone and bought a copy.

If not, email a generic department there and they’ll forward it to the right department. It took about two weeks to come through in the post.

This is easy to do, so don’t worry. Contact your former university and they will direct you to right department who will issue you with a certified copy of your degree. You fill out a form and pay around £40 (I think) and it gets sent to you. If you need it quickly I think you you pay a little more.

You may find asking for an official transcript odd much cheaper and quicker, depends if they need to see proof of your degree or the actual cert itself.

There is also a service called HEDD where employers can request confirmation of degree from many unis.

Oh goodness- thank you for the quick replies. Sounds good to me! Started to worry.

Same happened to me. Very strange managed to qualify as a teacher & get first job but when moved to current job needed my actual degree certificate. I must admit I panicked as my university no longer existed (UMIST) but contacted the university it had merged with and same as PP paid a fee & got certificate, 28 years after graduating! Now wondering where it is Grin.

I got a replacement degree certificate from Warwick and I had to go to solicitor and sign document to say if old certificate turned up I would sent new one back. I had to pay for new certificate too. Took about 2 weeks to arrive.
