Hi!

I used to be entitled to work full time and be entitled to 25 days plus bank hols. Am now returning to work after Mat leave and will be doing 1x 5.5 day and 2x 7.5 days. How many days annual leave will I now be entitled to please if anyone knows? I am not sure they’ve done it right but don’t want to query and look stupid! If anyone can help, thank you in advance :)

You need to
To forget the days and work it out by hours and that's your pro rata entitlement.

Thanks, I thought it should be hours, but they came back to me with days! I will go back to them then. Thanks for your reply!

It needs to be done in hours.

What hours does a full time person work? Probably either 37.5 / 40

So say it is 40
You are doing 20.5

A full time person gets 25 + 8 bank holidays = 33 * 8 hours = 264 hours

So you would then get 264 * 20.5 / 40 = 135.3 hours pa

Thank you! I was working 35 hours as full time. So by using your equation, that would work out to be 164 hours, based on working 20.5 hours a week I believe? Thanks so much :)

You'll need to factor in your working days. I.e if your working days are on a Monday, you'll have bank holidays too (assuming that your role attracts bank holiday leave)

Thank you. Now I know I won’t look stupid by querying it, I’ll email HR. I thought it should have been in hours but thank you to those of Mumsnet for the advice :)

I make it around 135or 136 hours, OP, depending on how you round up the numbers when doing the calculations.

It's around 0.59FTE (20.5/35) and the full time holiday entitlement would be 231 hours (33 x 7).

Your working pattern shouldn't make any difference to your entitlement. You get the pro rata equivalent of bank holidays regardless, added into your overall leave entitlement.

You will then need to book off any bank holidays that you would have worked using your annual leave.
