Takehome pay civil service

Hi

I am new to CS jobs and trying to understand the take-home pay and pension account earnings of CS jobs. Is there any tool or web link that can give the approximate figures? For example, what would be the take-home pay and total pay ( including pension earnings) for an advertised salary of £28K?

I know that there will be NI, tax, and employee pension deductions (5.45%) from that salary to calculate take-home pay for my case since I am not eligible for any other exemptions. Am I correct?

What would be the pension earnings? I found that there are different types of pensions schemes like classic, alpha, etc. According to this link, (www.civilservicepensionscheme.org.uk/your-pension/managing-your-pension/contribution-rates/) employer contributions are 27.1%. So, is it simply 27.1% of £28K that are pension earnings?

Thank you very much for your valuable time.

Use this: www.thesalarycalculator.co.uk/salary.php

You contribute 5.45% of your salary into your pension, and your employer contributes 27%.

HR might have a calculator for staff

Sorry if I was not clear. I am still not part of CS. I am just trying to understand the figures.

If you are in Alpha pension scheme it is defined benefit. Your pension accrues at 2.34%. Each year you will get a pension statement.
