Hi all,
I've a degree and masters in Law and have always worked in the NHS (Legal/Corporate teams). Very happy with my progress and development, and of course cannot fault the package, particularly the job-security, pension and annual leave allowance. I earn the same as a solicitor, and have never been interested in pursuing the solicitor/barrister route. I enjoy how many alternative paths law opens.
I know we all have different things that are important to us but recently I have been thinking of exploring legal opportunities in the private sector. I have friends and family who enjoy bonuses, car allowances, travel opportunities through work etc.
I totally appreciate that private sector work is less secure than NHS, leave allowance isn't as good, and I know NHS have good maternity/adoption etc policies. I know that nothing is guaranteed in private sector, bonuses are exactly that - a bonus - and extras depend on the performance of company.
I know it is a massive case of weighing everything up, and maybe I'm just writing this post out of frustration after yet another week of NHS red-tape and usual BS.
Has anyone ever gone from NHS to private sector (or vice-versa) and what are your thoughts?
Thanks x
