Is it worth doing a dull, uninspiring, no prospects job for the perks?

hmmm - I've read your post twice - and I think you may be answering your own question - and from my point of view - yes I think it can be if everything else is right

You have to decide what is important to you. Assuming you can't have everything, that is...!

It sounds like you might consider the benefit to your home life to be worth being a bit bored, in which case go for it.

I opened this thread to say no, thinking the 'perks' were going to be better holiday or whatever. But lifestyle perks are a different kettle of fish!

Maybe ask what prospects are? You never know!

pinkspottywellies · 07/01/2008 19:26

I think if spending more time at home and having the holidays off is important to you then yes! I think if the people are great then it will make it much more bearable.

Gut reaction, is to say 'yes' to the dull job. It benefits you in many practical ways, and leaves you flexibility/free time to get your stimulation from other sources outside the job.

Definitely change - you say your current job is only better for 20% of the time and you get to keep school hols off and work a day less a week! You never know what may come up at the new company - they may have their eye on you for something else but want to get you in the door without standing on anyone else' toes!

I think losing the commute would swing it for me - all those hours you 'own' again.

Lovely

What's to consider? All jobs are boring. More time to yourself and family is a lot more important than 20% of the working week being fun/busy.
