Is there a way back after suspension?

DH has been suspended without pay. Short story is that he got ridiculously drunk at a work function. He’s fairly senior and he recalls nothing. I am absolutely livid with him but our relationship issues are for another thread. We’re planning for it to be dismissal and he is spending the time updating his CV and meeting with agencies. He also getting the relevant employment rights advice (I should add that we’re not in the UK). I am wondering if anyone was ever offered a way back from this or if dismissal is pretty much a done deal and we’re just going through the motions? Either way I think his working relationship is ruined but staying, even in the short term, would be a better outcome.

Does he have form for drinking to the point of oblivion? I don't drink and my DH doesn't drink much (i.e. 1 beer with a Sunday lunch) but I don't think I'd automatically lose my relationship if he did something completely out of character.

I suppose there's the argument that it has to be in you to come out of you, but still.

I have been busying myself to keep my mind off things so just catching up on the responses. Thanks for the HR replies, I agree about it being serious to warrant suspension.

It’s been over a week now and they haven’t contacted him at all. The wait is driving me crazy. He’s managed to get some advice but there isn’t anything that he can do now. No disciplinary hearings are required here and no reason for dismissal needs to be given. It’s the same for redundancy. There is just a statutory notice period they have to pay you for. It makes the wait even more confusing, I am sure these things are decided quickly.

Dismissal without pay can be done in very serious circumstances (examples given were criminal activity) but it has to be done within a few days so that is unlikely now and at least one positive from this wait.

No advice but sending a HH. Is he still saying he remembers nothing? Has his employer made contact yet?
