Teaching Assistant course - in person or remotely?

Just wondering if anybody who recruits teaching assistants can help. I'm hoping to switch career to a teaching assistant at some point in the next year or two. As I have been volunteering in a school for about 6 months but have no actual education background I thought it best to get a Supporting Teaching and Learning level 2 qualification.

However finding a course locally that fits in with the childcare I have available is a bit of a nightmare. There are lots of online providers but for some reason I have been wary of doing the qualification this way.

Can anyone who is in a school setting advise whether employers do prefer a qualification gained using the more traditional route or if an online provider (Start today! Do it as fast as you like!) is seen as just as good.

Thank you to anyone who replies to this riveting question.

You dont need a qualification to get a job.

English and maths GCSE (unless SEND and then maybe not)

Just apply for some jobs- with 6 months volunteering you will walk into one.

Previous TA in a SEND - you don't need the qualification. With volunteering you should find a job with no problem as long as you have GCSE's in maths and English.
