This is a no-brainer, right?

I've just today been offered a position that amounts to an 8% increase to my current pay.

The work is the same overall, but there is much more room for movement in terms of promotions, secondments and even bonuses, as well as perks like free broadband. They also do a 10% pension contribution.

It's close to home, and a hybrid working model, so 3 days in, 2 days home. I can take public transport which will cost about £10 a week.

Currently I work from home full time, which allows a huge amount of flexibility to my day, but head office is miles away (I have always worked remote) and I don't have much contact with colleagues. I've only been in my current role for 8 months, but the organisation just isn't for me.

I could very well be moving from one behemoth slow moving org to another, and still feel frustrated with the same issues, but I think the longterm benefits would work out OK. I would need to stay there for at least 2 years before moving though, as I dont want my cv to show constant jumping around.

I should take it, right?

If you're unhappy in your current role and this one are offering flexibility, more money and better pension contributions it is absolutely a no brainer

SeasonFinale · 08/03/2022 15:47

Yes go for it!

LadyDanburysHat · 08/03/2022 15:51

Oh absolutely go for it.

Torak · 08/03/2022 15:58

Thanks. I still feel quite nervous about career moves, I haven't worked full time (apart from my current position) in a long time, but they were really keen to have me!

Yep, no brainer. Good luck!

Yes take it and well done!

I attended an IWD webinar at work yesterday. One of the phrases repeated was do what makes you uncomfortable. You can't progress by being comfortable.

I do know how you feel though. I felt very out of my depth when I started my current job, but if I'd stayed in my old one there was nowhere to go.

Torak · 09/03/2022 10:46

Thanks. And yes, I do need to push myself, it's definitely how my career will get where it needs to be.
