Did not hear back from interview, now one post re-advertised !

Can anyone make sense of this situation?
I went for an interview for a role and there were two posts going in different specialties. I thought the interview went pretty well. I did not hear anything back from the panel despite them saying they would contact me buy the end of the week. I did not chase it up admittedly. Now I have just seen one of the posts advertised again ?
Feeling very despondent and have now emailed the lead person.

Not the same thing but I've just found a job advert for my workplace, same role as me but more pay. I asked for a payrise and was declined so why on earth is a new person with less experience in the company getting more money than me for the same role. Do you think they will email you back? Do they have a phone number you could call?
That is so rude of them. Honestly I would leave if that happened to me.

Likely to be a backdrop of political issues and nothing whatsoever to do with you.

Honestly, if they don't have the courtesy to respond to you, they are not people you want to work for.

A more professional approach would have been to let you know that they wanted to invite more applicants before making a decision.

They can't reject you yet because the post has not been filled.

Lol I'd apply for the role...

The first NHS job I interviewed for was a perm role in Estates & facilities - I didn't learn the outcome until well after a month has passed - at the interview on a Thursday I was told as there was someone leaving they would especially make a quick decision within 24 hours (what they clearly didn't tell me was that was only if successful) as it took a month to be rejected by email.

When I was successful for the 2nd application to a different role/area at the hospital, I kind of learnt why they don't tell unsuccessful candidates straight away, there was something on the letter that read if you didn't engage with them immediately on starting checks, after 2 weeks they reserved the right to withdraw.

I did have this situation with Nationwide Building Society few years ago I interviewed for some time (going through tests and roleplay etc) for a role in one of their branches on a Monday, thought it went really well only to see the job re advertised on Wednesday, when their unsuccessful email landed on Thursday, I had somewhat delight in replying I already knew I had been unsuccessful!
The response I got back was we'll pass on your feedback.....

When this happened to someone I know, they said to the company they were prepared to leave. They also showed the copy of the job advert with the higher salary for new starts. They had to get it nipped in the bud because as it turned out payroll wasn't aware they needed to pay my friend any less and my friend did not want to be in a situation later down the line when the company could turn and say we've overpaid. I know many people told my friend to drop it and one joked just leave and re-apply but in my friends mind it needed sorting - considering a creditor/anyone you owe money to for example could find the job advert citing higher salary and then accuse you of lying when you say you are on less and with bills going up which no one is exempt from it really made my friend take action.

Just an update. The lead interview person responded to my email and apologised that I had not received feedback. She said that she had asked one of the other panel to call me. No one did and I expressed that i was not happy that i had not been been told I had been unsuccessful. Her feedback was almost that I was over qualified for the role. I had been rejected from a similar role a couple of weeks previously and been told I hadn't sold myself enough so it seems maybe I just can't win ! They had offered the role to another candidate who had then turned it down, hence it being re-advertised. It was a support worker role and I have 35 years experience of supporting patients within this specialist but clearly this is too much. I think she knew how pissed off I was although I wasn't rude. I particularly emphasized how I had been left in limbo for two weeks and had never in 30 years been treated like this for an NHS post. Hopefully they will treat their next candidates a bit better.

Honestly, what this poster said.

I’ve been the frustrated HR officer organising the recruitment process, and nothing frustrates me more than decision-makers dragging their heels and not giving people a yes or no. I’ve recently left a job because I got so fed up of keeping decent, but not quite perfect, candidates on tenterhooks while management hedged their bets elsewhere.

Consider it a lucky escape from a working environment featuring poor communication and where employees aren’t valued.

Babyroobs · 08/03/2022 14:32

Thanks Terrible,
Yes I am considering it a lucky escape. I think clearly my face didn't fit. The feedback was that they thought I could overstep the mark for the role . WTF. If I was hiring I would rather have a person in the role with years of experience in supporting people, giving them the best support possible. It was like they wanted me to dumb myself down for the role. No way ! Anyway I made sure she knew I had secured another post in a higher band than for the role they turned me down for. I think I may make a complaint to HR, not sure whether that would do any good. I complained to the interviewer that it would have bene nice if at least the TRAC portal had updated so I wasn't kept in limbo for 2 weeks. She said she would pass on the feedback then very shortly I received a rejection email for TRAC, albeit for another completely different role !!! Clearly a disorganized mess !

It really does make you see where NHS wastage happens. They have now re-advertised the role and will no doubt have 3 senior Nurses interviewing for another whole day or more when I would have loved the job but they wouldn't give it to me because they thought I was overqualified ! It's not just sour grapes, i just find it baffling. Maybe there was more to it than she let on.

I had this recently (not NHS) and didn't recieve feedback from an interview. I sent a polite email chasing feedback, followed two weeks later by a slightly more stern one pointing out that I had taken two days off work at short notice to participate in their process not to mention prep time and could I please have some feedback.

I got a couple of begrudging sentences back via HR.

It's awful isn't it. They must realize how much prep people put into these interviews. each one I apply for they seem to want more and more prep. I have one interview next week, starting rate is just 24k and they want a Powerpoint presentation, then an interview, then a written test and it's an hours drive to get there. Realistically I probably won't go but I'm astounded by just how much they demand !
