I’m off work next week (whoop whoop) but there’s a work meeting on Friday (I don’t work Fridays) but the Manager replied to one of my emails ‘Have a good week Kay and see you Friday’!

Seriously WTF I don’t friggin want to go in at 11am for a work meeting!

Should I lie, say I can’t or what?

What do you think?

@AlisonDonut

Yes but she sent the message then logged off at 4pm. I logged off at 5pm

On Friday?

Thursday. I don’t work Fridays.

If you logged off last Thursday and aren’t due back into week until a week tomorrow, you won’t have seen the email about Friday’s meeting, will you?

Shesmyperson · 06/03/2022 19:49

I can't see where op says she doesn't work Fridays.

She says she has next week off, maybe I have missed something?

@ChooseYourUsernameWisely I am amanager and sometimes I might forget who is on annual leave next week. First thing u doinday morning is check holidays.

I book their holidays, but I don't remember them all.

You should have just emailed her back, saying, 'just to remind you I am off all next week. Speak to on the Monday after'.

If you feel the need to do something now, log in and email 'hi just realised you said see you friday, I am off all next week so I won't be there. Have a good week!'

AlisonDonut · 06/03/2022 19:49

Manager logged off at 4pm Friday just after sending the email

OP are you ok?

Look, respond saying you don't work Fridays and hope the meeting goes well.

Shesmyperson · 06/03/2022 19:49

Ffs I did miss something. Sorry Blush

AlisonDonut · 06/03/2022 19:50

I can't see where op says she doesn't work Fridays.

Ok. I'm out.

Flareonsbox · 06/03/2022 19:52

Just don't respond.

My whole department WFH. My line manager can't keep track with everyone's leave and who is where each day. I've had to before now where they're rung my work phone looking for me in our weekly meeting when I'm on leave. Despite my out of office being on, not showing on line on teams, our booking system showing me as on leave AND telling the numpty the week beforehand.

I think that’s what happened, she’s perhaps forgot…but I worry it might be an important meeting.

Anyway, I’m not going, I cannot face it like I explained. I will do this and explain, at least she will be aware I won’t be attending.

I wouldn’t go and if she says anything say you assumed she had forgotten you were on leave that day and had sent it in error. If she expected you to attend then she should have explicitly told you so beforeforehand and either declined your leave for that day or confirmed payment in leu. It sounds like she’s been giving you bad vibes and isn’t a great manager. Do you have proof that she appryour request to take annual leave for next week/ Friday? If not then she could easily turn it on you and claim you took unauthorised leave. I used to work for a bully and I had to tread very very carefully.

Hercisback · 06/03/2022 20:09

Right either your workplace is really shit, or the manager has made an innocent comment not realising you don't work Fridays.

Your level of anxiety isn't normal for something that could be just a slip.

Ignore the email and return to work when you're supposed to.

springbreak22 · 06/03/2022 20:10

What happens when there is another meeting but on a day you are working, are you going to refuse to go to that cause your anxious about bringing food and eating with your colleagues?

Icemast · 06/03/2022 20:15

Personally so I wasn't worrying over my leave id just reply back saying ah as you know I don't work Fridays and I'm on leave this week but looking forward to hearing about it when I'm back. I wouldn't open the door for negotiation on you going to them on a day off going forward, be very clear in no i don't work then. If it's important everyone attends they need to consider their part time staff and plan or negotiate accordingly.

Duchess379 · 06/03/2022 20:16

I would have replied 'nope, see you Monday' and left it at that.

Chloemol · 06/03/2022 20:27

Just go back and say sorry xxx I think you might have forgotten I am in holiday next week, see you week Monday and we can catch up then

Satsumaeater · 07/03/2022 17:27

I worry it might be an important meeting in which case they'll either record it or update you afterwards.

I think you have bigger issues than this meeting to be so worked up. DH gets a bit like this over things. Please calm down and enjoy your week off.
