Credit check and finance company - help?

Hi all,

I've been offered a job at a finance company and they do a credit check - I have two defaults with the same bank, paying a car I gave back to the car company and that's it - the reason for this was my husband lost his job due to covid, I went on maternity leave and then my dad died so couldn't make the payments but I've entered into a payment plan now.

On the credit check it says "I confirm I don't have any CCJs or bankruptcy" and I don't, it doesn't say anything about defaults or payment plans or anything like that - do you think I'll be okay? I know it's bad to have defaults it's just due to the circumstances I had no other choice but just wanted to know if anyone else has a similar experience or works in that sector and can tell me

Thank you

Not sure if this is the right place to post it but couldn't find another to match

Yes the defaults are not CCJ's are they. I really wouldn't let it put you off.

Sorry for your Dad passing.

I had a debt relief order that is coming up 10 years old, for the smallest amount but it was after I spent just over 10 years underpaid in hospitality, it dropped of my credit file 4 years ago, my last sales call centre attempt in Insurance which is pretty heavily regulated and as it sounds awful I kind of really didn't want the job so I didn't declare it for the very first time ever - it never came came up like I hoped it would be the out of the door situation. I was more gutted in the end to learn if I'd got 2 marks less in the assessment we were doing during induction it would have been goodbye. And then it ended up being an allowed re-do!

There will lots of things people battle with - life happens, gaps unemployed with little to no money to live on, being the vessel unwittingly for furlough fraud etc in the years that this will come out during, I even know of company directors with tesla's for their cars and living the most crazy life style on minimal customers per week but wouldn't pay the bounce back loan until serious demands are in - not everyone is perfect.

I don't know I've personally felt more vulnerable about the furlough fraud of an ex employer then what I could ever have done about a credit file.
