I can’t bear going In tomorrow

I work In an team that has a line manager and a manager above them. The line manager manages part of the team. They’ve not been there as long as me, but long enough you’d expect them to be competent.

Manager above them has been off sick, likely due to line manager’s behaviour.
While they’ve been off, line manager has been in charge and I’ve had to escalate a concern to a manager above both who was so concerned they intervened straight away. A few other members of the team have also expressed their frustration with the manager.
Manager has done nothing other than tell me everything I know to be right is wrong, suggesting I put myself in situations that could be dangerous. They’ve prevented work being done and ignored requests for help.
I was advised to do something on my own which should be done by a manager, when I raised this above them, they came back saying yes, you shouldn’t be doing that.
I told them I was overwhelmed. They asked me to take on more work, I said I couldn’t. I had too much on, they said ok, and left it.
This person has manages the team before so this isn’t the first time.
The whole team has expressed their concerns last week but it’s affected my mental health so badly I can’t bear the thought of enduring another week of this.
The senior manager has confirmed that the manager is on their radar and I’ve kept evidence of the things they’ve said to me but where do I stand? I can go off sick but I don’t want to. It won’t be better unless someone does something. I can look for another job but that could take months. Is this something to go to HR about?

I’m dreading tomorrow.

If you feel the more senior manager is not dealing with the issues you can raise a Grievance. Check your policy documents as to who to approach. Document all the concerns ie asked doing something beyond your role, how this has/has not been handled and the impact this is having. You may find yourself with little alternative but to look for another job anyway though.
