Civil service - managing a quality service

Hey all, I have a civil service interview coming up for an EO role, managing a quality service is going to be assessed, and I cannot come up with any examples 😩 I only got a 4 for managing a quality service on the application form too.

I worked in a coffee shop as a teenager .. but other than that I have no experience of working in places where I have customers or anything like that, none of the companies I have worked for have provided a service to the wider public so I feel really stuck 😬 any advice??

I can’t help on specifics for the current interview formats as it’s been some time since I’ve interviewed or been interviewed

You may not have had much experience of ‘customers’, but you should widen the definition of customer - it’s someone who uses your service.
That could be a customer, or it could be your manager, a colleague, a member of a different department etc. The ‘product’ could be you doing a task, answering a query etc
The key is that you provide something, that you take into account what their need is, you provide some form of service, aspire to do it well (which could be to perfection, the best within a time frame, or a ‘good enough’ ball park answer) and you can support them

There’s a link below with some examples of questions you may get
(Note that I’m not endorsing their website etc)

Hmm thank you that's helpful, you're right, 'customer' could be my boss or colleague 🤔

Look at quality in a wider way? Have any of your posts had Key Performance Indicators or industry quality standards that need to be met? Value for money? Productivity? Staff satisfaction/development?
Good Luck!
