Job interview / Childcare advice

Morning,

I’m trying to get back to working, with ever increasing costs, and my youngest (of 4) almost 2 now, we’re finding Dh’s wages just aren’t covering everything anymore and we’re struggling.
I’ve been a sahm for over 8 years now. My background is administration.
I’ve had an interview offer for a catering assistant which I’m quite excited about. It says for 20hours per week and salary £9050.28 per annum.
Now I just want to check before getting too excited about the idea of return to the world of work (if I get the job obviously 🤞🏻) that that’s earning enough for my 3 year old to qualify for 30 hours free childcare, so I’d only have the youngest to pay for?
Also would I qualify for the tax free childcare too for the youngest?
My older two children are in school so hopefully depending on the hours, they won’t need any childcare.

Also what are your best tips for a catering position interview please?
If all the numbers add up and I can actually make a little bit of money, I’d love to get the job 🤞🏻As much as I love my children, after 8 years I’m ready to have my own thing.

Many thanks 😊

Are you sure that salary is correct? As it works out at £8.70 per hour, which below NMW, currently £8.91 p/h rising to £9.50 in April.

To get 30 hours you need the equivalent of 16hrs per week at nmw

You need to expect to earn £1,853.28 over the next 3 months to be eligible. At the salary quoted you should be eligible for both 30 hours and tax free childcare. Good luck with the interview Smile

I’ve just double checked and it’s actually 22.5 hours, but it’s in a school, so term time only.
I’m getting confused with what I’d be entitled to.

Thank you. I’m hoping that’s the case. I’d not be getting much after childcare but anything’s better than nothing 🤞🏻

I think the mental health benefits of working and the experience and skills this will give you will also mean it's a great opportunity 😃 it will only be a few years til your youngest two are in school full time so you'll have less to spend on childcare then too. Good luck with your interview!

I totally agree with the mental health, it’s been such a long time for me out of work, so I’m really ready mentally for some time away from my little ones, in the nicest possible way, and this job seems to fit in the best way possible I think childcare wise, once you end up paying for 4 of them (even the older ones are only in primary school) it actually costs money to be in work. I’ll keep my fingers crossed it goes well too 🤞🏻 Been such a long time since I did an interview 😱 xxx
