Awaiting on new job contact

Hi guys 28weeks, been offered a job subject to clean DBS ect so just waiting on that before I start. I haven't told them I'm pregnant as they want me to start 5 weeks before I go on mat leave. Thinking of telling them a week in once my name is on the dotted line. Although I'm not sure when I'd have to let them know tho any ideas?

Without my contract I don't actually know my hours. All I know is that it's full time and I need to be fully flexi. I also have to work for them for a min of a year. Am I allowed to request part time/flexi hours once returning from mat leave?
My partner works split shifts 9-12, 14-22 x5 days a week. Our nearest childcare is 30 min drive but I don't drive and he has a bike on provisional which makes things tricky. The bus would take about an hour there and another hour back plus the waiting time between.

I was hoping to only work on the days that he's off as even finacially I don't know how were going to do it. I'm estranged from my family since 18 having gone in care and his family live 80miles away so they're not an option either.

I'm a bit worried about finances and I don't really want to not work at all as I feel guilty living off benefits (even tho they don't touch the corners of bills bit of a joke).

Could anyone advise I feel like I'm spiraling atm

They’re going to love you

We all get outraged when a company treats its employees badly, isn't flexible in working hours, doesn't treat people fairly, pressurises women on maternity leave etc etc.

It seems to me that your plan is to get the job, leave in five weeks and then request part time flexible hours all at your convenience and to hell with the employer. You're going into this full in the knowledge that you cannot meet the requirements that they have for the job but once you've signed a contract they'll have to bend to your way?

Honestly I think it's a shocking way to behave and shows no respect for the people you're gonna be working for.

Perhaps you should look at a way of earning money that does work around your childcare requirements and that can offer you the flexibility you need - working from home, self employment ??

It sounds like this isn't the job for you - won't you struggle to get there now, never mind in a year? The hours don't sound compatible with your life, they want flexibility.

Oh and you want to disappear after a few weeks.

You say you want a job/don't want benefits - temp/short contract now, look for family friendly roles afterwards? Much better than pissing a company off and assuming they won't just do what it takes to get rid of you (though they can't discriminate).

This isn't the rule for you, you can't fulfill it.

After 26 weeks with them you have a legal right to apply for flexible working, they can reject it on business grounds though so I absolutely wouldn't expect it to be approved when you return. In honesty I'd talk to them about it now, it's not even as much that you'll be on mat leave soon (which happens), but that the job requires complete flexibility and you are not going to be willing to offer that once back it doesn't sound like the job for you or the employee for them.

Another one. That’s twice in just a few days.

I can’t imagine they’re going to offer “full flexibility” to effectively a new starter either. What’s the role?

How are you planning to work full time hours in 2 days?

My thoughts too but will give the benefit. Should you not have submitted your matb1 by now? Don't they need to do a risk assessment? You won't get smp from them, do you qualify for MA? You seem very naive about practicalities.
