Term time contract and holiday entitlement

Hello, I wonder if anyone can help please?

I work 20hrs a week across three days, I'm on a term time only contract.

My kids school is an academy and as such, instead of inset days they give us an additional week with our May half term and an additional week with our October half term.

I've just found out I'm entitled to holiday. However as I take an additional week in May and October I'm not sure if that's covered with my term time contract or I have to take it as holiday.

Can anyone shed any light. I work in an admin role for the NHS if thats of any relevance.

What you are asking is complex to work out and impossible with the limited information provided.

You would be much better asking your HR contact for the calculation they use and whether or not the two additional weeks are to be deducted from your holiday allowance.

Typically a TTW contract has 14 non-working weeks but this can be partly annual leave or all unpaid with an annual leave allowance to take during term time. The calculation will probably be based on your annual leave year and use annual hours worked etc

Term time contracts in full time roles are confusing. I worked a similar contract to you when mine were young.

You are paid pro rata for the part time hrs and the additional leave you have to be term time. So in essence you still get holiday allowance, but that is combined in your term time leave.

It is calculated so you get the same salary each month. I worked civil service, not NHS. If I wanted an additional two weeks per year it would be an extra two weeks of unpaid leave.

You wouldn't be accruing enough leave for all your holidays to be paid on a term time only contract.

It's best to discuss with HR for the actual monthly salary.
