Interviewer added me on Facebook

Had a job interview this morning via Skype for a part time Admin role in small company. It went okay (could have done better!) but think I came across as genuinely interested. The interviewer has just sent a friend request on faceook and I'm really not sure what to do

Part of me wonders if it was a mistake and they were searching me? I want to ignore it but also really want the job so not sure if accepting is a good idea. Plus I feel really weird about it

Any advice?

I would ignore it for a while. I think they were searching you too which is fairly standard.

Just ignore the request. If they ask about it, say vaguely that you don't use Facebook all that much.
TBH I think it's outrageous that employers send friend requests to staff and monitor their social media - employers do not own you and should mind their own business (unless they get a report of profoundly unacceptable social media posts by a staff member, and even then they need to tread carefully in investigating).

But the best way to deal with this sort of nosiness is to be unco-operative in a vague, smiling, civil way. If they start to push, act surprised and say you can't see why it matters: you only use it once in a while to say hi to your auntie or whatever.

Oh no! I would assume accident. Just ignore & pretend you haven’t seen it. Have a good nose at their profile though Smile

Probably to look for anything dodgy in your personal life that would rule you out as a candidate.

Probably by accident whilst having a spy.
I would ignore for now but have a nose at them 😂

My recommendation has always been re social media: have two accounts. One with your nickname/middle name, and one with the name you'd use for work. Confine the work one to family, old school friends and former colleagues, stick to funny cat memes and photos of your lunch... you can get away with the occasional bit of mild politics or humour, but keep the nickname one for your real mates and your real concerns. If they find an innocuous but intermittently active account in your name, they won't dig any further.

Thanks - glad everyone thinks it's best to ignore.
Funny thing is I don't really use Facebook so hardly anything on there to nose at anyway

They probably liked you and wanted to snoop on your profile to check you're not awful! I'd ignore
