Hi all,

I am due back to work around April and need to drop my hours at work. I work for the NHS We do 12 hour shifts and currently do 3 long days.
When I go back well before I go back I want to reduce my hours to maybe 1 long day and half a day or two long days.

What are my rights in applying for this have work got to grant my hours obvs child care reasons or can they refuse?

I've never used Flexi time before in a workplace so not sure how it all works, and want to get some heads up before I speak with my manager.

Thank you :)

You can request but they have no legal obligation to grant it and if it's doesn't sit with their business requirements/needs they may well refuse and there isn't much you can do

You're legally entitled to request a flexible working pattern, there is 2 points to yours, change of hours and chabge of shifts. You have to provide reasons why it would wotk for the business and not impact performance etc, not so much your personal reasons.

They can reject your request
