Sick pay when injured at work

I have cubital tunnel syndrome. Caused my dr believes by my work, dealing with the stock deliveries, same movement repeatedly, lifting heavy boxes etc. I am currently on light duties as I’m in too much pain to do my original job, which is not great pain wise but more manageable.
Work are supportive and understanding.

However it’s looking more likely that I will need surgery, but I will need probably 8 weeks off afterwards and I only get 6 weeks sick leave at full pay. This feels incredibly unfair considering the injury is work related.

I work for a huge retail company, is this worth fighting and complaining? I don’t want to claim compensation or anything but I think I should get full sick pay for my whole recovery period.

They will have discretion to extend your sick pay so it’s worth asking

Amazon? Carpal tunnel?

Were you given manual handling training? Is the job unnecessarily repetitive. They might extend your sick pay if they think you might claim against them.

itwasntaparty No not Amazon, I’m based in a shop, my role is to deal with the deliveries every morning. It’s basically the same as carpal tunnel but the damage to the nerve is in the elbow not the wrist.

comefromaway yes I have had manual handling training, it’s is doing the same thing over and over again so yes I guess very repetitive. Which is likely what has caused the damage.
