A housekeeping job

I want a change of job, one that is less stressful or mentally too much, as is my current job
Are there any housekeepers out there who can enlighten me? I think I would be good at it. I have run my own house successfully and raised a family perfectly well. I like working alone too.
Can anyone help me with an insight?

I'd post this in chat, you'll probably get far more responses Smile

I work as a housekeeper and it's great, but positions will vary a lot depending on what your employer wants. I work with my DH and we are more house managers as it's a big property and our employers are not always in residence. We have a lot of freedom when they are away but also a lot of responsibility.

A good place to find housekeeping jobs is jobs.lady.co.uk/jobs/any/?sector=6039&over.
Are you planning to live in? I have had a housekeeper/mothers help when my DC were younger, when I moved away she had to fight off job offers!

Not planning to live in, no. I would like to know what sort of things it entails. Do you have enough to do all day?? Do you get a break at all? What are the sort of people you work for?

Would I even be a good job!!!!

I’d probably start with a housekeeping job in an upmarket hotel for experience. There’s a knack to perfect beds and plump cushions. Generally in housekeeping you create work for yourself with deep cleaning/ organising if quiet. I’d always take a break I think you work better if you’ve had a drink / lunch. Most people are nice, you wouldn’t stay if they weren’t. It’s physically demanding but saves on gym fees.

I work part time as a Housekeeper at our local hospital ..it’s the most sociable job ever! I have brief chats with nursing staff, porters, fellow housekeepers - but there are also times spent on my own with no-one breathing down my neck, putting pressure on. It also keeps me really fit as it’s very physical 👍🏼
