Working abroad

I separated earlier this year, and while it was the best thing to happen for me and my three grown up children, it has savaged me financially hence I am seriously debating (at the young at heart age of 47) to do what I always wanted to do ( but ex was having non of it) and teach abroad. Here are my pros: I am fully qualified with a PGDE in Geography with QTS, I even have a TEFL somewhere. The cons is that I have only one year full time experience in a UK 11 to 16 academy. Since then I have worked part time, as supply staff and most recently as a Cover Supervisor. Does anyone have any tips on what I should be doing the 12 months so I can be ready to start a dream job abroad August 2023?

You haven’t said anything about your ability to work elsewhere legally?

Where were you thinking of moving to? Lining up a visa with working rights might be the main thing to work on, unless you have something sorted already.

I think the international schools have recruiting sessions for new teachers. That’s probably a place to start. Or recruiters.

I’d get back into teaching ft in the U.K. and start looking for international roles. TES is a good place to start.

You don’t need to sort a visa a good international school will do all of that for you.

Have a look at the international schools. As you have done your QTS you should be fine getting a job. Schools will organise visa and often housing too.
