Working out pay

Please could someone help me get my head around pay and holidays, I thought I’d worked it out but my wages would tell a different story.

If you work term time only 15 hours per week (school admin Mondays & Tuesdays) inc inset days how do you work out your monthly pay.

The annual salary paid over 12 instalments is £6821.

I divided the salary by 12 so expected £565 approx this month but got less???

Your reference to annual instalments suggests 12 equal payments so your gross would be £6821 / 12. However perhaps you need to clarify if you are paid in equal instalments.

However there could be deductions for pension, NI or tax so you need to look at your payslip to see how the net has been calculated.

Thank you, I will check with HR next week.

My contract just states that I am
Employed term only 39 weeks for 15 hours per week and I will be paid an annual salary of £6821.

Holiday entitlement will be pro rata for part time employees. A full time term
Time only employee gets 28 days holiday for my post.

My earnings are not enough to pay tax or NI contributions but I do pay pension but my gross pay before that deduction is still a fair bit lower than what I was expecting.

Go on the UK salary calculator and input the figures. It’s very accurate to help you know if it’s correct

Your holiday entitlement has no bearing on your calculations. Unless you are leaving and have unused holiday entitlement then it should never translate into a cash amount. You simply take your holidays and get paid as normal.

You could have incorrectly had tax or NI deducted, which is why I mentioned it. But if your gross is wrong, well nobody on here will know why, you need to ask your payroll or HR department why.
