Can my employer ask for PCR results email?

Had a positive LFT so I had a PCR test this morning and just waiting for the results.
Can my employer ask me to forward on the email when it comes with my results? I'm guessing they will want to see proof I have Covid.

28 self certification is now in place until the end of January to ease pressure on the GPs (not my words 👀).

28 days!! Bloody hell. The piss takers will love this!

Does sick pay start from day 1 still with covid? I have had a positive LFT and trying to order a PCR but out of stock so will be off for at least 2 days before I get my results back.

Have you been contacted by a contact tracer at all? You should receive a text from them saying thank you for self isolating until 01/01/2022 (or whatever your last day is lol) and your case number. You can send that to them if you want.
You can also do the self isolation letter online like PP suggested, or if you are contacted by a tracer you can ask for a self isolation letter/ email. Hope this helps Smile

Hellocatshome · 30/12/2021 20:11

Of course they can. The only reason I could see for you not wanting to is you are either faking having covid or faking not having it.

DontKeepTheFaith · 30/12/2021 20:14

We ask for the result because it is treated separately to other sickness. It won’t be part of the sickness record and they will be fully paid but people do chance their luck sadly so unreasonable to ask for evidence I don’t think. No personal details included in the email afaik.

falalalalalalablahblah · 30/12/2021 20:15

Some employers are registering covid cases to track / keep a record.

Pinkstegosaurus · 30/12/2021 20:21

I was told this when I had covid last Christmas, two days before we were due to close for the year and when I hadn’t been in contact with anyone in the office for far over 72 hours (had been wfh at that point.) I did in the end hand over the confirmation email but in my case it was because my boss was an utter control freak and I got a written warning on my first day back. I’d have understood if it was for any HR reason but then she also asked for my scan pictures to prove I was pregnant so 🤷‍♀️

Is there any need for some of the aggressive replies on here?

I'm not faking being ill or skiving ffs I feel like absolute shit.
And no nobody can know what MY employer would want Hmm I just wanted to know what the general procedure was because it's Christmas and there is nobody at work.
Thank you to everyone who managed to reply without a cactus up their arses.

My Dh had to send his email then fill in a "global health" form on his intranet. Won't know if he gets paid or not.

My work pay full pay if Covid or isolating. If you are well enough to work, they ask you to work from home. If not you are off sick and no work required.

@Mooghan

It's absolutely not!
www.gov.uk/taking-sick-leave

It's 28 days at the moment.

crochetmylifeaway · 30/12/2021 20:38

My kids nursery asked for proof of the negative test before they would let him come back so I'm sure employers could be the same.

Mooghan · 30/12/2021 20:48

Sorry everyone! I was absolutely wrong! Blush

WeAllHaveWings · 01/01/2022 16:11

Nephew and partner both had symptoms, took a pcr and both were off work while waiting for the results (negative). both were asked by each of their employers to send in result as proof of why they had to be off/when they got the result, which is fair enough.
