About to hand my notice in - for all the right reasons, I've been successful in my application for a promotion (NHS but different organisation). I've absolutely loved my current role but the right job came up at the right time, and the time has come to let my manager know that I will be moving on. I feel nervous!!! And I'm not sure why! Anyone else felt like this in this position before?

Any words of advice/wisdom would be most appreciated! Thanks all x

Ah congratulations! I have always felt nervous when giving notice, even when it was a shitty job with a shitty boss!

It will be fine and hopefully they'll be happy for you. Good Luck!

Hey, I'm wanting to go on holiday with my toddler alone. I know there's the corona and much more to think about. But I'm just wondering if anyone has ever travelled abroad with their toddler alone, it is a thought of mine and I'm really wanting to do it, but I'm obviously abit worried about us being by ourselves and getting lost etc, any ideas or advice please? Thank you 💟

Well, my calls went unanswered and my manager hasn't even tried to call me back. I called twice yesterday and have tried twice today. With WFH we can't meet in person, so call is the best option. I know resigning over email isn't a good look, but how many more tries would you give it before having to communicate the message another way?

You have to put it in writing anyway, no?

Tell her you've tried multiple times to reach her by phone in your cover email, and you're sorry you didn't get a chance to tell her in person first, but you're resigning and attach your formal resignation letter.

I believe so! My plan was to inform them with a phonecall, and follow the conversation up with my resignation letter/notice. I didn't want to spring it on them via email but I feel like I don't have much choice 😫

I don't know why my question is on this thread, sorry guys x

@msc6199 I recognise you from your other thread!

I think that you have done all you can to speak to your line manager and would send the email if I were you.

Good luck.

Did you hand in your notice Op?

I had the HR meeting re showing documents such as passport etc yesterday, over MS Teams. I hadn't realised that the process of me getting into my new role would take quite so long.

Documents have to be loaded onto Trac and then authorised. Then I get a conditional offer in writing. Then references and DBS are requested and Occupational Health becomes involved. Then I get the written offer. Then I can actually hand my notice in, I am on 12 weeks notice. I don't think that I will be starting my role until mid April 😑
