Police officer - what are the rules?

Hey everyone

I'm a police officer and have just been sent a message from our childminder saying there is a positive covid case in her household and she has to shut tomorrow

I'm due to work 0600-1700

Husband away and parents 2 hours away

Are there any "childcare days " or similar that this would qualify for so I could work from home? Currently in the office anyway.

And no, they don't anyone work from home unless pregnant !

Any help please thanks!

Should be able to take a parental leave day. It's for emergencies only but should cover you for a shift.

Yes, parental leave. Your force will have policies you can look up internally, but they are also governed by Regs.

If you get any fallout, contact the Federation.

I work for police (staff not officer).

You should be able to claim parental leave or emergency leave. If you check out your forces intranet and look under HR/policies you should be able to find the info you need. The earlier you inform your manager the better so they can arrange cover if needed.
