A staff member was using class A drugs at the Christmas party and offering them to colleagues? He apparently can't remember any of it, but plenty of witnesses.

If it makes a difference, we are a public sector organisation with standards to publically uphold. A criminal record could mean he's unable to work in our sector.

This is my Monday staff issue this week Grin Currently waiting on a call back from HR

That would be an instant dismissal for gross misconduct in most organisations!

Iamanicepersonreally · 13/12/2021 16:23

Gross misconduct. Would be instantly dismissed

RestingPandaFace · 13/12/2021 16:25

Gross misconduct, suspend and refer to the police.

Depending on policy either carry on with investigation or wait for outcome of the police and progress once they have finished.

itwasntaparty · 13/12/2021 16:31

In work hours? Gross misconduct and dismissal.

Dozer · 13/12/2021 16:35

Yes, and wouldn’t matter if was outside working hours. Suspended whilst investigated, due process, then dismissal for gross misconduct.

Dozer · 13/12/2021 16:35

And reported to police.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 13/12/2021 16:40

Immediate suspension. Investigation. Jotters.

Zarene · 13/12/2021 16:43

I'd like to say gross misconduct, but this happened in a former workplace and the guy was promoted and sent to New York.

WalkingOnSonshine · 13/12/2021 16:44

In my current company, gross misconduct and sacked. H&S is taken very seriously and people have been sacked for failing a breathalyser/drugs test.

At previous companies, brushed under the carpet.

Interrobanger · 13/12/2021 16:46

Does he work in the Cabinet? If so, he’ll be grand.

FortVictoria · 13/12/2021 16:47

@Interrobanger - very good 😊

Marmite27 · 13/12/2021 16:48

Dismissal for gross misconduct.

Nevertime · 13/12/2021 18:27

It will be interesting to see how it pans out. We've had a couple of other (completely different) incidents that could have been gross misconduct recently and despite a lot of talk about " no choice" the inquiry has found a way to give them a warning and a second chance.

Police have been informed but will they do anything?
