Job Interview

I have an interview for HEO role in civil service. It is a recorded interview. So far- the pattern with higher grades is that external applicants have been much more successful.
I've been doing the role on a TDA basis for the last year and have worked for dept for 18 years.
I am autistic and suffer from anxiety. I have declared this and got extra time as a reasonable adjustment. I seem to get through to interview fairly easily but struggle at interview to appear calm, comfortable and polished. Trying to remember all the behaviours is not going well. Any tips at all??

Breathe.
Take time to think about your answer rather than babbling.
Make sure you actually answer the question

Good luck OP
I’ve got no tips, but remember you can do the job and you’re a great asset.

Thank you. I'm curious as to why messages were withdrawn?

It's probably going to be a Success Profiles interview, that means the interview will follow a pattern and you can do better by responding in a certain way.

You will be assessed on behaviours and strengths; have a look at the leaflets (available online if you search for Success Profile Behaviours and Success Profiles Strengths dictionary). You can pick out some of the qualities they are looking for from those and the trawl notice and think about times you've demonstrated those. If you use notes, I wouldn't have more than a couple of words to jog your memory, otherwise you might end up reading your answers or being too stuck on what you've written and unable to adapt it to the question.

The best candidates I've interviewed tend to imagine the scenarios and put themselves in the picture. Like "do you work well with others?" Everyone says "yes". The good candidates talk about how well they get on in their team. The great candidates talk about something they've recently achieved as a team and how they worked to bring everyone together by starting off with clear communication about the plan, celebrating victories by suggesting a rota for bringing in cake and having a monthly team tea where they talk about the good work of the team and mini milestones or achievements met, organising regular support sessions where problems can be discussed in a blame-free setting etc. You can nearly see them thinking through all the steps as they are talking. Don't be afraid to put yourself in the picture.

There are plenty of videos online that talk you through a Success Profiles interview. Have a watch of some of those.
