Waiting for Feedback from Interview - Struggling to Concentrate!

OCM19 · 06/12/2021 12:28

I had an interview on Friday for a very good job opportunity. It didn’t go as well as I had hoped but I’ve followed up with the interviewer.

They’ve said they will let me know by this Friday whether I’ve got through to the last (panel) stage. I’m really struggling to concentrate and keep checking my emails…but it could be that they don’t let me know until the end of the week!

Anyone else waiting for feedback following a recent interview?

Interview went okish. I think i’m under experienced for the role by a long way. I actually hope I don't get it because I don’t think I’ll cope.

Groapple · 09/12/2021 16:55

Would you withdraw you application?

CMOTDibbler · 09/12/2021 17:20

@Macmickmoo even worse, its where I work...

I wouldn’t withdraw my application. A lot of women will only apply for a job where they meet all the criteria and so don’t progress that quickly. Remember if you could do everything that the job entails you’d be doing it already. A good company will give training. I appreciate not everyone has that view though.

I've found out I got a job I applied for a while ago. But the hours don't 100 suit me.now. But would be good in a couple of years
The one I interviewed for yesterday I do want and am covering now. But the shift pa is changing and I am going to have to negotiate hours if I get an offer. So conflicted

Big organisations can be so dysfunctional, someone is always pulling in the opposite direction. I hope you find out soon - it can't be easy hanging on.

Keep at it. Look at freelance work too.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 10/12/2021 09:40

I’ve just told work I’m leaving and they’re now looking at options to keep me. Really flattering but now I’ve got to either let down current work or new work! Argh!!!

Groapple · 10/12/2021 13:09

@Idontgiveagriffindamn well done. Hope you can make your mind up without too much stress.

Why did you go looking elsewhere in the first place?
Groapple · 10/12/2021 17:57

No news despite them saying they’d be in touch today.

That’s frustrating especially with it being a Friday. Try to keep it out of your mind over the weekend - Hopefully that’s not too hard given that you won’t hear anything at the weekend
LadyWithLapdog · 12/12/2021 08:40

@Idontgiveagriffindamn congratulations! Why did your current job not appreciate you with a better offer while you were working for them? I'd move to the new job.

Good luck to all still waiting. I've had a new job offer 3 weeks ago but still waiting for the contract (big company, hiring lots).

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 12/12/2021 08:52

I think it’s cos my situation is a bit weird. Currently working part time as an analyst but prior to that was in a more senior position at a different company. I’ve not spoken to them about going full time or doing something more senior so not their fault. There’s just nothing come up there I’ve been interested in. The other job I just saw on a job email that I usually don’t open.
The company is generally great so it would be stay if they come up with a decent offer.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 14/12/2021 22:00

@Groapple have you heard anything?

CMOTDibbler · 17/12/2021 12:52

Mine gets even worse. HR said they'd have a decision the beginning of this week, just emailed to say they need more time and won't have an answer till January. I am so annoyed

Omg that’s horrendous!
CMOTDibbler · 17/12/2021 18:03

@Idontgiveagriffindamn have you decided what you are going to do? Have they made you an offer you can't refuse :-)

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 17/12/2021 18:23

@CMOTDibbler they offered me a slightly better role but not enough so I’m leaving. Bit gutted as it’s a lovely place to work but think this role will be a better fit longer term (hopefully)

That is so unfair to behave like that - they should be really embarrassed by their behaviour - they don't deserve you!
LadyWithLapdog · 17/12/2021 18:26

Just to jump on here. I’ve had my contract through but it doesn’t mention the 2 things that made it most attractive (a kind of perk of £5k a year equivalent and a specific type of working pattern). How binding are verbal agreements between inter wiring people vs HR contract writing people? I guess I have to get it in writing.

LadyWithLapdog · 17/12/2021 18:27

I meant interviewing people (who know the job) vs HR people who tweak generic contracts.

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 17/12/2021 19:13

@LadyWithLapdog I’d not sign the contract without the perk in it or clarification that it formed part of the benefits package outside the contract - current place of work does this.
The working pattern it depends what the contract said. Mine says 9-5 but working pattern to be confirmed by line manager. I have an email from them agreeing that I can work 8-4 so I’m happy. But depending on the role and if you needed those hours I’d want them in the contract.

LadyWithLapdog · 17/12/2021 19:17

@Idontgiveagriffindamn I know you're right. I've got such itchy feet now, I just want to hand in my resignation and move and I don't want to wait another 2-3 weeks for the revised contract. But I know that I should trust no-one when it comes to things like this. OTOH the longer it drags, the less enthusiastic I feel about it, I'm running out of steam waiting. I wanted to start the new year with a grand gesture!!

Idontgiveagriffindamn · 17/12/2021 19:36

Completely understand - it’s like you should be excited but it’s just not sorted.
Hopefully they will sort it out with HR quite quickly for you. Definitely right not to sign a contract your not happy with.
