I have been informed by my mother in law most NHS jobs are internally advertised so you have little to no chance of getting a specific job without being on the staff bank service or already in a NHS job…is this true?

I’m looking to join community nursery nurse sector and am currently in the most relevant role an Early Years Practitioner with the local council…but someone on bank would be considered more favourably?

Help me get into NHS!

That is not correct. They are crying out for staff and would welcome your application! There may be candidates who have experience within the NHS or working on the Bank, but I have recruited Early Years Practitioners in the past, who have been great additions to tbe NHS. Usually you need to be qualified to Level 3.
My experience is in the Community and working with Community Nursery Nurses alongside the Health Visiting service. They will be looking for good knowledge of child development, behaviour management and communication skills. Most importantly understanding of safeguarding children issues and when to report concerns. They will want you to be confident you will feedback concerns to senior colleagues. Being a car driver and able to use a computer is also key skills. Look up about the Healthy Child Programme, ASQ assessments, know about SEND issues, The role will mainly be about completing health reviews as part of the Healthy Child Programme, identifying development issues, supporting parents with behaviour issues and health advice re feeding, dental health etc
Please look into making an application as most areas are really in need of good applicants, there may be candidates with more NHS experience but certainly those from outside are definitely considered

Look for roles on NHS jobs, if you see a job that interests you, telephone to find out more aboit the role to ensure your enthusiasm. Working for the local council will be very relevant exeperience, so don't be put off

Not true. Look up your local trust on NHS jobs.
Find out who runs the department you want to work in and give them a call.

Anyone have any experience with NHSP at the moment? I joined about two months ago, having relocated to another part of the country and still have no placement, despite having years of actual NHS experience as an admin manager. Chasing for updates regularly but nada. Very frustrating and confusing as there are literally hundreds of jobs advertised requesting temp clerical workers.

JSL52 thanks. I can't find this function when I log on! I was with NHSP years ago until the trust I was at changed to a different agency and remember that you could book yourself into any available shifts. I'll have another look to see if I can do this, otherwise I'll call them x
