Hi there Smile

I am looking for some advise, maybe some steer in the correct direction or even to hear other people stories about being an immigration advisor. I am currently retraining at the age of 45 as an immigration advisor, I am doing a course and then will be applying to become a regulated immigration advisor OISC level 1-3.

Anyone got any stories to tell me about whether they enjoy their job as and immigration advisor? Anything really? Every comment will somehow help. Thank you

I don’t think I could do it. You will be dealing with criminals on a daily basis. I know some people will disagree and say that unregulated free movement is not a crime but the fact is that it is under UK law - mostly under the Immigration Act 1971, so for 50 years.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not anti immigration. It’s just such a shame that people do it illegally. Their brazen entitlement would annoy me, because your role is basically going to be trying to find ways that they can exploit our immigration rules, whilst the majority abide by them.

There is no reason at all why OP would be dealing with criminals, what a bizarre response! People can and do migrate legally and sometimes they use experts to help them navigate the application process.

Yes lots of work for your oisc exams but well worth it!
lots of interesting cases!

OP, ignore the comment about helping criminals, utter rubbish. I have worked closely with immigration experts, qualified from oisc level 1-2, and solicitors and can assure you that the vast majority of cases were regarding those who escaped from some form of persecution. It's a very rewarding field and hope you succeed.
