Resigned with immediate effect

beetheone · 03/11/2021 23:11

Today I resigned within mediate effect due to the conpany owner having a go at me for responding to an email 2 days later.
She demanded respect and told me I was rude.
Today a colleague called asking me if I had other interviews lined up prior to resigning (certainly not the case)
Just your thoughts...

My thoughts
Why didn’t you respond more quickly?
Were you rude?
Do you need the money?
What are you going to do now?

She was away? If I'm reading it right?

My thoughts are that this must be the latest in a long line of issues otherwise resigning on the spot seems somewhat drastic. Unless there’s the mother of all drip feeds on its way.

If you had an out of office message on indicating that you were away and when you would be back, and who to contact in your absence if there was any such person, of course you weren't being unreasonable.

This! If the sole reason for resigning is that you didn't like how you were spoken to, it seems rather extreme, immature even. Even more so when you aren't willing to work your notice period. I hope there are mitigating circumstances? I'd be concerned that if it's a small industry, word may get round and impact your future opportunities but that all depends on how reasonable your behaviour was. From the original post, it sounds like you've been rather dramatic.

If you have an HGV licence then YANBU...

Hoppinggreen · 05/11/2021 20:35

Yes I know but did she respond as quickly as possible on her return?

GreenLunchBox · 05/11/2021 20:35

Can a company refuse to pay you your last paycheck if you don't work your notice?

They don’t have to pay you for days not worked.

You are clearly fed up with the place, so I hope it will all turn up good for you, and you get another job in the next few days.
I have the feeling you will not regret it, because they were not appreciative of your hard work. I have seen this enough times. Better a fesh start.
I bet you the owner is regretting losing yet another employee, when they already have issues getting the first one sorted.
