How do I report a staff member anonymously?

Some context.
I work in a school. I work in 1 of a few departments. There are a few people in each....
One of the other people in a different department like mine has some red flags, it's causing issues with their colleagues to the point they are bickering, sabotaging each others work, making life difficult for each other. This person has also admitted a few things to me about a previous job, uses drugs prescribed and medicinal, can barely read properly, dresses inappropriately and uses many words in front of the students that they shouldn't be. This person has also now added a job in the school where they have a lot more interaction with students and discussed things that while are safeguarding, they again are not appropriate to be having with a student in a car. Our dsl is reached via email or mobile and as we're all connected they would have my name. I'm concerned enough that I'd like someone else to decide if it's not an issue per se or if it needs investigating. I'm happy to speak to them in a department setting but not as 🐍.

How do I do it?

How are they going to start an investigation of nobody reports it? You have the concern and it sounds like direct examples of things that would indeed be looked into, it needs to be you. Do you want to be the one that could have stopped a problem but didn't because you were worried about your own rep?

HollowTalk · 20/10/2021 11:19

I would speak to someone in person about it rather than emailing. You're right to be concerned.

8dpwoah · 20/10/2021 11:19

Also think about the implications of something did happen and it came to light that you knew but didn't report.

I'm not trying to scare you but this is the reality, I've worked in schools in pastoral for the last 15 years so I'm saying this with your welfare in mind as much as the students, I promise.

I emailed the dsl yesterday. No reply as of now. No out of hours on but it's possible they are away as its half term.

Good on you, you've done what you can and as it's half term there's no immediate risk so even if they don't pick it up til Sunday night/Monday morning they'll be able to get onto it ready for the start of the next half term. Enjoy the rest of you break 🙂

notaprincessimaking · 21/10/2021 22:26

I'd report it to your LADO. You absolutely MUST act if you have safeguarding concerns.

@KalvinPhillipsManBun

Mind your own business 🙄
It is her business. She has a duty to report it. Everyone who works in a school is trained to report any concerns that may relate to inappropriate behaviour with children or regarding staff behaviours with children. There is a system for this in every school and she must use it.
savagebaggagemaster · 21/10/2021 23:35

You can report a safeguarding concern about a member of staff directly to the LADO at your local authority. You can even ring them for a chat and they'd advise you. This is what most likely what the DSL would do anyway.
This might be worth doing if you can't get a hold of your DSL
(though someone with safeguarding responsibilities should be available during the holiday)
It is best to speak to someone ASAP

Lennybenny · 22/10/2021 22:13

I have a meeting with the dsl on Monday so I'll update then.

Meeting done. All concerns addressed and dsl was glad I spoke up. I was able to fill in the entire timeline which I can't on here and things are obviously escalating so now its time for someone else to step in.
2 bad nights sleep and a lot of stress but I'm happy I made the decision to speak up.

Well done sometimes hard decisions are really important to make

Lennybenny · 23/04/2022 19:09

Complete waste of time. Colleague has been authorised to drive minibuses and ferry students around....After admiting she hopes they don't implement a drugs test policy because her and oh would fail...he also works here now. I tried. They have no excuses if anything happens.
