I'm good at my new job, but I hate it

I started a new job nearly two months ago. I have had lots of positive feedback from my managers, and my first piece of work I sent to a client came back with no comments or suggestions, which is apparently really rare with this client. My manager is really happy with how I have been doing.

And yet I really don't like the job. I don't find it rewarding, and whilst my colleagues are lovely I feel like I don't fit into the work culture.

I want to get another job, but there's not much out there. Plus I would feel so guilty, my colleagues have really invested so much time and energy training me and explaining things to me and helping me.

Awful isn’t it to feel like this. Keep your eye out for new jobs but you never know if a few months you might live this job

I had the same issue after 2 months in a dream job... just didn't like it so I left. I got the job via an agency and they paid a fee for me but I was so miserable I didn't stay or think about how much they invested in me. My own happiness came first. Before handing in my notice I set myself up with a 5 month temp job to allow me some breathing space. t I'm lucky I can do this as I work as a PA Senior admin and there wasn't a lot of Permanent jobs around. That was 6 weeks ago and I've been given lots of well paid temp jobs infact the job I've been temping in has just offered me a permanent job which I wouldn't have got if I applied. I think there's lots of companies doing this right now. I was so pleased as I love the job and people so I feel lucky and in a way I think things happen for a reason. I now have flexi time, good salary and befits and hybrid working irs just been the best decision I made. Obviously I was sick with worry leaving a permanent job for contract work but I was just do miserable and didn't want to wait for months. Hope you work something out. Life's too short and sometimes when we embrace change it leaves us with regret but we can move on and try again and in my case I can't believe my luck.

What don't you like about it? If you're good at it, is there room to move upwards quite quickly?

I’m the same two months in a specialist role and they’ve really invested in me. I’m looking to move though, and you should too. Your happiness is important.

It really depends how badly you need the job.

I had started in a company and soon after realised the role was nothing as it'd been advertised, however a month and half into the job I got pregnant and really needed to stick it out for the SMP but also for their generous enhanced pay. It's been worth it.

Don't ever feel 'guilty' about work - they'd get rid of you in a heartbeat if they needed to balance their books. It's just work. I'm presuming that the training provided didn't consist of courses etc which you'd have to pay back for? By training, you mean 'shadowing' staff and being shown processes/procedures?
