Could anyone that works in the CS advise me. I am a higher rate tax payer about to go on maternity leave.

When I am on ML i get 6 months full pay, 3 months stat and 3 months nothing. For rounded figures say I earn £60k usually but the year I am on maternity leave i will only early £32k (inc the stat pay) so will overpaying on tax.

Do they sort themselves out and tax me for what i'll receive that year, do i get it rebated at the end of the tax year or will i have to claim it back?

Thanks

Your tax should easily sort itself out within the tax years through your normal pay packets.

MY experience at a ndgb was that all the tax was sorted and spread a bit throughout the year.

Essentially what will happen is when you drop to SMP rate you will start to get tax refunds in your monthly salary. This should be automatic under PAYE.
