If you work at Falmouth University, what is it like?

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in applying for a role at Falmouth University and wanted to ask for anyone's experiences of working there.

It's a professional services role rather than academic, and not student facing. I'm already SW-based so travel isn't an issue Smile

Any experiences at all would be great -although I realise this might be a slightly niche topic Grin

TIA Flowers

Hiya! Hopefully not too outing, but my exH is one of heads at FXU and have plenty of acquaintances and friends at all levels and departments. The answer is .. it really depends on the department. Exeter is seen as the better one of FXU.

Thank you for your reply, @Terribleluck! It's Falmouth rather than Exeter, so working with more arts/creative subjects. Ts and Cs of the role look really good. Do you know whether people tend to stay there in the long-term? Are they happy? After several shorter-term roles, I'm really looking for somewhere to put down some roots. Thanks again so much for your response Flowers

IME academics tend to stay there for longer than support staff. A good friend of mine resigned because the whole thing was toxic. The past years (post Brexit) have been awful, many demotions, pay cuts, etc... I think things are now getting better. Have you had a job offer yet?

I've not applied yet, just trying to scope everything out at this stage Smile

So sorry to hear about your friend's experience, I hope they're in a better role now. Toxic environment doesn't sound very appealing Shock

She was in the marketing department. They're trying to run the uni as a business and I don't think everyone agrees.
