If you can explain why you love it, even better.

I'm a teacher, currently in early years. Things I love-

The awesome people I work with who make me laugh, are incredibly hardworking and kind.

The children are so endearing and funny. They make me so proud. They make huge amounts of progress in a short time frame and build strong relationships with us.

Whilst the job involves long hours doing thankless and repetitive tasks, being outside in bad weather, counselling parents which can be tricky and literally being smeared in snot, there are many joyful moments every day and I just love being in such a fun, happy place. I can get creative. I sing regularly. I get down on the floor and play, being silly. It's fabulous.

cliffdiver · 11/10/2021 18:27

Primary school teacher for a MAT.

Love it (the planning until 9pm some evenings, less so)

riotlady · 11/10/2021 18:30

I no longer work there but my best job as as a TA in a special needs school. Kids were wonderful, I loved being part of a community (always made things like Christmas that bit more exciting!) and I felt like I made a difference. I would have stayed forever if the pay had been a bit better but my husband is also on NMW and we would have struggled to ever buy a house etc on those two salaries.

i help to contribute to enabling stock generation, and at times i also help to contribute to the assistance of also collecting the stock and processing it.

its an excellent cause, and the funds raised help to contribute to funding of projects and services that lead to the assistance of saving lives.

flashpaper · 11/10/2021 18:39

I love my job. I'm an ODP. I love how each day is different. I love helping people and making a difference. I love watching the different surgeries we do. I really love it when the patients wake up, I'm the first face they see.

I really really loved my job until covid. Now we are understaffed and people are leaving in droves. It means we are put under enormous pressure and our management are still trying to act like it was before. I know waiting lists are long, we are trying to get through them, but it's getting to dangerous staffing levels and it's frightening.

Welshmaenad · 11/10/2021 18:41

I am an adults social worker. It is gruelling and heartbreaking sometimes, always stressful, occasionally terrifying when you are managing huge risks, but I absolutely live it and can't see myself ever wanting to do anything else.

I love it because I love the people I work with, I love uncovering their stories, supporting them to do things that matter to them, and helping them to be as independent as possible. I deal with a lot of challenging behaviours, especially when dementia, mental health, acquired brain injury or substance misuse is involved, but the satisfaction of a breakthrough with someone resistant to your involvement, when you start building a rapport and trust, is priceless.

I'm sure a lot of people think adult social work, especially with older people, is just "a cup of tea and a chat" when it's infinitely more complex and involves making some very difficult decisions, but it's wonderful.
@connelly, wow really? Are you in the UK? There doesn't seem to be much calling for nannying where we live ut it is something I've considered once my kids don't need me at home anymore.
I'm in London and work 42 hours a week.

I’m a solicitor. Generally I love my job, for the following reasons:

 • it’s intellectually satisfying
 • it’s almost never boring
 • I get to help people
 • it’s well paid
 • it has an element of prestige
 • it’s collaborative
 • it attracts intelligent and usually interesting people
 • it has moments of drama / excitement

It has downsides too, obviously. It can be horrendously stressful, it’s demanding, it’s hard to leave behind at the end of the day, the hours are long, clients can be demanding and ungrateful. But overall I still enjoy it very much, and would choose it over most other things.

FreeChuro · 11/10/2021 18:46

I teach preschool, and for the most part I adore it, the pay is shit though.

CurryLover55 · 11/10/2021 18:47

I work on a till in a well known store. I’m part time which suits me & I love the interaction with customers. Plus I have some lovely colleagues who have become friends.

Harpydragon · 11/10/2021 18:51

Office Manager. I love it because no 2 days are alike. One day I'm meeting and getting clients, another I'm relationship managing contractors, ordering IT, sorting out travel, budget planning, policy making, office mum! It changes all the time it's immensely challenging and I wouldn't have it any other way!

PurBal · 11/10/2021 18:53

I work for a charity close to my heart. I love knowing I make a difference.

Guesswh0 · 11/10/2021 18:54

I'm a buyer for an education supply company and I absolutely love it. Sometimes it's hard work and far too many spreadsheets but mostly I really enjoy my role and I never dread work on a Sunday night.

I've worked very hard to get where I am and love the product area I manage.

I count myself lucky to have a well paid job that I both enjoy and succeed in.

Bad points are too much admin and red tape and not enough admin support.

DuvetDayIsEveryDay · 11/10/2021 19:11

Social work Manager (children in care).

I love it because:
I make a real difference.
It's truly different every day.
Teenagers are wonderful.
I spend a lot of the day laughing (with teenagers).
I use a wide range of skills daily - from critical thinking, mathematics, assessing risk, managing my own and others boundaries or managing behaviour (and loads in between).

We work with lots of different agencies so are able to learn from them too.
Training is excellent.
Good pay.
Good AL.

ElleMcFearsome · 11/10/2021 19:19

Pastoral manager in a secondary school. Teenagers are constantly fascinating, challenging and fabulous. I start with them in Yr7 and see then out the other side of their GCSEs. It’s the best job in the world, never boring, and by the end you really have a rapport with the students and their families. Clearly sometimes it stressful and occasionally heart breaking (safeguarding issues, death of a family member) but it’s incredibly rewarding. I cannot imagine doing any other job!

Snooptheboot · 11/10/2021 19:32

Deputy manager at a village Pre school.

I love it because my team are amazing, the kids are hilarious and the workload fits with my life and disability (adhd)

I am a Protection Advisor, so I review people's finances, work benefits and insurances and advise them whether they need additional cover or whether the cover they have written is done correctly (also Wills, etc). I love my job because I have literally saved people and their families from being repossessed or being unable to pay bills if someone has died or become unable to work.

I've been doing this 21 years, so have a few stories where insurance has worked.

SpikeDearheart · 11/10/2021 19:47

I work in medical communications. I love it because:

It's intellectually satisfying, combining science, creativity and problem solving.
My colleagues are lovely, interesting people.
It's rewarding knowing I have contributed in a small way to getting patients access to life changing therapies.
It's well paid and flexible.

Hearnoevilspeaknoevil · 11/10/2021 19:59

Secondary school librarian. Teenagers and books. It's heaven. Crap pay

lanbro · 11/10/2021 20:03

I have a couple of coffee shops, I spend my days baking and chatting to people, I never wake up and think I can't be bothered!

DuckonaBike · 11/10/2021 20:06

Librarian working in a special collections library. Amazing collections, I learn interesting things all the time, I get to help people with all sorts of weird bits of research and (my favourite part) interpreting collections for the general public. I have lovely colleagues. The pay isn’t great.

Meezer2 · 11/10/2021 22:30

I'm a scrub practitioner working in obstetrics.

I've assisted with hundreds of Caesarean sections and each delivery I'm involved in is still an absolute joy.. 😍

Downsize2021 · 11/10/2021 22:48

Primary teacher. I love my school, love my families, love the children in the school i formerly taught and the others who know me as part if the furniture and i absolutely love the 23 children in my care. I love seeing their progress, overcoming challenges and sharing a little part of their lives with them. I wouldn't change it even when, like today they all go crazy and drive me bonkers all day.

SkiingIsHeaven · 12/10/2021 00:29

I am a Structural Engineer. I mainly do house extensions and alterations. I love my job.

Every day is different. I go out to lots of houses and meet all sorts of different people doing different things. I am a people person and love having a good chat while out and about.

I also love dogs and have met hundreds since lockdown.

Lovely to find out what people do and nosey around people's homes.

My job involves making people happy because they are getting the changes that they want and the transformations can be amazing.

I also get great satisfaction in seeing the end results. I feel proud when I drive past the projects that I have worked on.

You get a visual reminder of what you have achieved.

I also work for myself so can be very flexible with choosing jobs and hours that I work.

Can't beat it with a stick.
