To resign or wait out probation extension review

I'd be grateful for feedback on my situation or if anyone has been in a similar situation.

I'm currently pregnant 29 weeks. I joined my company 8 months ago. I'm entitled to OMP (so a higher rate than the standard SMP). The job has been totally missold to me, I don't even know what my role is as the nature of it keeps changing... The processes/training has been poor/haphazard/inconsistent. Other team members are also confused as to why I'm there it's getting to the point that it's embarrassing. Following on from a performance review in July, much to my line manager's surprise and mine my probation review has been extended. I hadn't realised I wasn't doing well enough nobody had said enough to me (only after a superior had sought feedback).

I have enough money/savings to last me 8 months, but I don't know whether I should wait for my review at the email end of the month or resign before I'm let go. One manager thins everything will be fine whereas I'm not so sure (was told before everything would be fine and it wasn't).

How bad is it having 'not passed probation' on your reference? Should I just stick it out and see what happens, or resign now? I can't see myself returning to this job, but I don't know how hard it'll be to find another job post maternity leave. TIA!

I would stick it out for the maternity pay. I’d also be challenging why they haven’t given any negative feedback for the first 8 months but now there is suddenly a performance issue now that you’re pregnant.
How long was your initial probation period, and how long is the extension? 8 months is a very long time to be on probation.
And they may not even put a reason for leaving on the reference so don’t make your decision just based on that.

I think you're in a very stong position if they've extended your probation without any prior advice that you were doing badly and you're pregnant.

If you mention your surprise and ask if it's related to your pregnancy, I'll be amazed if you don't pass.

Definitely stick it out for the maternity pay. I don't think they'd say you failed probation on any reference anyway. They'd just confirm dates you worked there.

Considering you are 29 weeks pregnant I would recommend you stay put. I cannot imagine a reference will say “didn’t pass probation”, references these days tend to confirm dates of employment only.

I agree with this, particularly the second paragraph.

You might also find some information here pregnantthenscrewed.com/ to help with your decision. Good luck. 🌹

it should never be a surprise that you are not doing well, you should have been told at the time.
stick it out for the maternity pay.
do you intend to work afterwards?
