Hello
I am really not sure what to do at the mo so hoping you might be able to help as I find chatting about things help guide me!
I work in a job which is paying well - however I can get more elsewhere - especially due to the job boom at the moment. Recruiters are literally blowing up my phone.
For various reasons (management issues) I have lost my mojo recently, and I have really loved WFH. Now we are being asked to go back to the office I have lost my motivation basically. Everyone is being made to - only those with 'exceptional reasons' get to have longer WFH than the 3 days in, 2 days WFH (hybrid approach). My train is £4000 of my salary per year. However I have to commute as local wages suck.
What I am struggling with is recently I've got pretty bored (still loads for me to learn but I've just got fed up of corporate life during covid), and there are management issues so new bosses coming in are trying to make changes, and I do get on really well with management so thats fine. The whole going in the office loads is above them (big company) so nothing they can do as it impacts thousands of people.
I've told management I've been fed up and bored so looking at the door, as they're trying to understand what we want/skills etc (and I previously got on well with him).
He is giving me new work etc and changing things about - so grateful.
I said to him I can get more money down the road and more interesting work so why stay... so work wise he is trying to sort it out for me. Money wise its unlikely anything will change haha.

However as I got promotion this year I know when it comes to February I won't get anything, and my train fare/bills will go up but I will end up worse off - plus paying for the train again.

If I was to jump ship I'd have to 'step up' (recently I've taken my foot off the gas and enjoying plodding life abit)... I can't decide if to stay or go.

I don't need the money - however I'd like it obviously (more holidays, clear the mortgage quicker etc). However, I struggle with itchy feet in jobs and like being the newbie (is that weird). And just feel like I have no thrills where I am. Although its the whole grass is greener situation... why leave somewhere comfortable for something risky.

Stay or go? What would you do? I just feel guilty for not feeling grateful.

Well that's that's hard one! cons: would same thing not just happen in your next role? why the itchy feet (could you look for fulfilment outside work by mentoring or volunteering etc)? wouldn't it harm your CV next time if not now? be careful what u wish for and all that, you could end up with a shite job and be saddled with a bitty Cv.
pros: nothing to lose I guess, at least by going to interviews...

Yeah I will 100% continue to get bored in all my jobs, but I'd be earning more money for doing it haha. I should be on about 10-15k more at this point etc. Part of me is enjoying plodding, but part of me thinks OMG I deserve more.

I work in an industry with very long hours / expectations (E.g. getting up 6am, eating dinner 10/11pm), so it basically doesn't help with other areas of my life e.g. meeting someone/dating etc.
Therefore I am hesitant to go to a new job incase I have to back burn it again.... I've finally got a better work life balance in the team I am in (I can leave at 5.30-6pm now). So abit like, what's worth more to me now?
