Do I bite the bullet and pay £700 for a training course?

I’m really struggling with my job right now. Desperately looking for a way out and have read a potential new employer wants candidates to have a £700 training course.

It seems like a sickening amount of money just to boost my application by a few points. I can afford it but it definitely is eye watering.

Do I just go for it?

No
Sounds a bit dodge. I’d expect employer to pay for the training if it’s required to do the job

No, do you have life skills and employment history to show you have relevant experience to do the role with the option of them training you (aka paying for the course)?

No sounds like a scam

I agree, sounds dodgy

You’re right in that they do fund you for the course if you’re the successful applicant and don’t have it.

I’m worried about the competition in the application process though, it might be the difference between getting the job or not as having the course would give you more points in your application. Although, it is a very niche training course for that specific job role.

I paid for a course after 3 failed interview and then got a job I wanted I that field.

But it wasn’t £700 more like £100

Sounds dodgy however what is the course? Does it lead to a recognised qualification?

Hello, I’ve probably made it sound more scam like than what it is.

Having the training course is just a desirable criteria in their candidates. It’s a training course from UNICEF, wouldn’t lead to a qualification but it is an accredited training course.
