Leaving the nursing profession

After 10 years as a nurse, I've finally made the difficult decision to leave the profession. I wanted to see if anyone else has left and what did you do? I feel so daunted by this decision but its definitely the right thing to do. Thanks in advance.

I have recently left NHS after 15 years. I was broken. I am now the manager of a charity shop, absolutely love it. The two jobs are worlds apart, no more stress, bullying, can’t believe I stayed as long as I did.
There’s definitely life outside the NHS.

There's been a few threads on these lines recently, maybe have a MN search and see if they help?

I'm ex rgn turned trainee counsellor, there's others on the previous threads who have gone into health social care teaching, pharma sales and unrelated jobs.

I didn't choose to leave a long term health condition has meant I had to call it a day, but whatever your reasons there's lots of options. And you've got plenty of experience.

What would you like to do? What area do you practice in?

You could also consider a lateral move into theatres, community or first response just throwing out a few options.

Also if you miss it, or want to keep your hand in you can always do bank depending on your circumstances and specialism.

Oh and you could look into SCPHN, I did mine while it was funded, not sure if it still is. Good luck op x

I left 6 years ago, I’m a TA now, hard work but nowhere near the stress levels! Also I get all the school holidays off. Obviously took quite a pay cut though.
