Hi all!

I'm currently a stay at home mum and I'm looking to go back to work when my toddler is around 2-3 years old.

I'm fully qualified in both interior design and personal training and I'd like to work from home.

Can I have your input as to which job you think would appeal to more clientele?

My other option was to go into beauty...I'd have to train up but living in London, there are so many great training schools around!

Thankyou!

I probably wouldn’t bother with beauty, where I live (a long way from you), the market is saturated. They’re all in salons though. If I was going to someone’s house, I’d expect to pay a lot less than in a salon as the person would have lower outgoings (no rent etc.). The products could be an issue as well, as some of the skincare companies state that you have to have a certain number of treatment rooms or buy a certain amount of stock to be able to use their products, which would limit what you could use from home.

PT, I think would be difficult as pp said, clients would want it to their time. I would expect a portfolio of ‘success stories’ and to see your qualifications and support with nutrition etc.

Never used an interior designer so can’t help there.

The market for interior designers is going to be a) small (very few people both have the money and want to spend it on design), b) highly networked, and c) very dependent on prestige and WOM. If you haven't worked in the field since getting the degree, you don't have a network in it, and you don't have a plausible plan on how to develop a base in a very specific wealthy segment, I think it's a nonstarter.

PT and beautician are both largely saturated, but at least the average person might actually pay for one. Beautician probably has the best legs but again you'll have to figure out who you're targeting based on your actual local market.
