Hi all,

Does anyone have any idea what they are going to do if they push through the NHs mandatory vaccine?

I have not a clue

...get vaccinated?

FleasInMyKnees · 10/09/2021 15:29

Who? The government, the NHS, your employer?

DoucheCanoe · 10/09/2021 15:30

Get vaccinated or look for another job.

DayDate · 10/09/2021 15:32

In support vaccination, I've had mine and my advice to others, if asked, would be to have it, but I hate the idea that the state or your employer can force you.

I'm amazed it's legal TBH and am interested to see the arguments in the first case where someone is sacked or not employed for not having one.

FleasInMyKnees · 10/09/2021 15:33

I have had all the other vaccinations they want us to have so will have covid vaccine too. I have no exemptions.

whatswithtodaytoday · 10/09/2021 15:34

Presumably you've had all the other vaccinations you've been required to get as healthcare staff? This one is the same.

Seesawmummadaw · 10/09/2021 15:35

Aren’t they on about relocating people? Maybe non patient facing.

vodkaredbullgirl · 10/09/2021 15:36

If care homes have to, so should the NHS.

Shadedog · 10/09/2021 15:38

Get vaccinated, like I have done for all other compulsory vaccinations. I want to protect my patients and also, quite reasonably, I don’t want COVID.

2boysDad · 10/09/2021 15:47

Even though I don't work in a patient facing role, I work with colleagues who are patient facing and I walk through "open parts" of the hospital where there are patients waiting for appts or just a coffee.

I'll get my Covid booster job when asked/instructed. Patients come first.

I won't be sympathising with any colleagues (although I don't think there will be any in my dept) who refuse to get vaccinated if they lose their job.

GinIronic · 10/09/2021 15:53

Get the vaccine or get sacked. Your choice.

Masterblasterjammin · 10/09/2021 15:57

I would be absolutely fine, as I’ve had my vaccinations.

We are in very close contact with vulnerable patients, and I think as healthcare workers, we have a responsibility to take measures to protect them.

Having the vaccinations also ties in with understanding of health/science, evidence based practice, clinical guidelines/recommendations. If you still haven’t gotten vaccinated, and don’t intend to, it seriously makes me questions people competence to provide safe and effective healthcare.

Probably going to get a few people jumping down my throat for that one, but that’s what I think.

Bargebill19 · 10/09/2021 15:58

Wasn’t it on the bbc yesterday that they were talking about redeployment as a possibility, if staff were unvaccinated and nhs employed? I can’t remember if it that was only for medically exempt or just anyone who refused the vaccine though.
Also suspect it was just a possibility being thought of, rather than a fixed plan.

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/09/2021 16:02

While I understand and agree with philosophical objections to being coerced to have a medical procedure, I don't really understand why people who work in healthcare wouldn't want to protect the vulnerable, sick people they are near.

Basically, why would you need to coerce people when (barring medical exemptions) they would all have it anyway.

Quite. There's rather a worrying poster (not this thread) who posts conspiracy theories and lies about vaccine safety whilst also claiming to be NHS Senior staff. I really hope that's a lie as well as the rest of what she posts. Confused

What a lovely world we live in nowadays, where choosing not to take a vaccine while it’s still in the trial period is forced and you lose your job or rights of access to places if you don’t consent.
Data that vaccinations don’t actually stop spread is ignored, along with age vs risk calculations (as we are about to see with Chris whitty et al overruling the JCVI).

Everyone worried about covid that you might face has probably been vaccinated themselves or already take their own precautions where necessary because any other respiratory virus is probably just as dangerous to them but we have slowly been conditioned to see this as acceptable. Many even think that these people, who wish to have a say over what goes into their body and when, deserve everything they get. I genuinely despair of the human race.

NutellaEllaElla · 10/09/2021 16:04

NHS staff already have to have a host vaccinations so this is no different
