New job uniform worries

I've just started a new job, really happy working in a craft store 3 days a week. My uniform is on order so until now I've been able to wear my own shirts. My problem is that I have a nasty burn scar on my arm from when I was a kid. I fell into a fire. I've always kept it hidden as I don't like looking at it. The uniform is a short sleeved blouse and apparently I'm not allowed to wear anything over the shirt like a cardigan. There is no long sleeve option. I feel very panicked that I'm going to be forced to show off my scar. I hate it. Makes me want to leave the job.

Few places would object to a long sleeved top under the shirt. If asked I would be tempted to say for modesty reasons (which is sort of true)

Could you put something like a tubigrip bandage over it? You could say it's covered for medical reasons if your employer queries it.

Stretchy tubular bandage over that arm?

I would have a word with HR and explain your concern, this should be an easy solve for them. It seems very short sighted of the business to not have a full sleeve option, some ppl just don’t like showing their arms in general.

Must be allowed as some religions can’t show skin at all and end up with plain long sleeved top under t shirts. Could you get a tube bandages that covers up the area? I would hope a boss would allow a bandage to stop you feeling self conscious or stupid members or public staring. That way it would at least not making “only you” allowed wear a cardigan and if asked could say it’s skin condition. Either way be brave bite bullet and ask they may surprise you.

What would they do if someone had to be covered up for religious or cultural reasons?
I'm sure if you just email and explain they'll be ok with you

I was going to suggest the exact same! If not this then:

Would a 3/4 sleeve length cover it? I'd speak to HR or your boss, explain and ask whether a 3/4 length top underneath could be worn.
