I started a new job 3 years ago... Band 8, starting salary of 38k, annual increment of approximately 1k a year until I hit 50k at the top of the band.

So I thought I was on about 41k. Just looked at p60 for last year which was 36k.

Ive emailed my manager and payroll but I assume they will have to rectify this due to my contract and the fact everyone else who has my job title is band 8....its a standard band for the job title.

Will they have to back pay me?

Well, now you know why you should be responsible and check your payslips.

It is mind boggling that someone would start a job and never once in 3 years bother to look at their pay slips to ensure they are receiving the correct remuneration.

If they overpaid you and you didn't notify them that could be dealt with under a disciplinary policy. "I couldn't be bothered to login to look" wouldn't fly.

Underpayment is not the only reason to check.

Glad you got it sorted

Your P60 earnings are normally after your pension contributions have been deducted
