Hello,

I’m absolutely hating my work right now, I’ve only been qualified for 4 years and the stress is just so horrendous I’m looking for a job in the same sector but different role.

I just have to pursue and continue this job until a job comes up in the role I really want. What has helped you get through a rubbish job?

Horrendous stress, horrendous management, horrendous demands. It’s taking a toll on my family, I’m a grumpy, angry person because of my stressful job. I’m stressed through the roof my heart rate is reaching the 140’s throughout the day and I’m only 26!!

Go to the doctor. Get signed off. This could effect your long term health OP....physical and mental.

It's not worth it. Focus on getting over it...THEN look for a new job. Do some courses online which might help you in your new field.

Can you get signed off sick for a few weeks and use that time to get your cv updated and apply for jobs? Once you have an escape plan you'll feel better and be able to switch off. As the previous poster said a job causing you such stress is just not worth it. You're replaceable to an employer but not your family. Good luck

Make sure you take your lunch hour and get away from the office. My last job before covid, the atmosphere and stress were awful, so I went for a run every other day. It gave me an hour's quiet, fresh air, and eased the tension out of my shoulders. You could just walk if you don't like running.
But you're right, the answer long term is move job Brew

  • Take full lunch and leave the office
  • do your CV and get applying
  • Do allocated hours only
  • mentally check out (it doesnt matter what your performance review is nexthalf you are treading water until you land the new job. Save your energy for that)
  • Grey rock managment
(management: 100 things need to be done by eop! You: i can do 2 let me know which ones M: all of them need doing!!! Y: i can do 2. i need to leave on time. Who else will do the rest? M: there's no one. Y: i can do 2 if you need it tomorrow someone else will need to help Rinse and repeat
  • put in earphones and tune out coworkers

In a similar position, although my stress levels aren't as high, and echo the suggestions above - that kind of stress will be taking a serious toll on your health. I am applying for anything vaguely suitable and thankfully have an interview lined up for a couple of weeks' time for a job I'd really like, although I'm not getting my hopes up. Good luck, and I would definitely take LivingLaVida's advice about mentally checking out; I've done this and it is helping.
