Hi,
I have been working a year in a different area to my profession (NHS) as I needed to change due to awful working hours plus wanted to change direction. I’d been a band 6 for years in my profession and a band 7 towards the end (sadly, I had to leave this due to the pandemic and travel issues). The new role is band 7, flexible and very close to home. I was offered the job because I had worked at a higher level and had the qualifications/experience to take on this role. I found out, after starting, that an ambitious band 5 had applied for the role and was encouraged by one of the long standing 7’s. I was told by someone else the 7 wanted the 5 to get it she didn’t need training. The band 5 has worked there a few years and knows the place well and is very ambitious. She is also very friendly with the band 7 in and out of work.
Anyway, someone told me that these two weren’t happy I had been offered the job and were deliberately going to make life difficult so I got fed up and moved on. They are
both nice to me but I have noticed a few things in the background. This is not my profession (it’s a lot easier than my profession) but, obviously, I have
had to learn a lot as there is a lot of management to the role and it’s a new area. I am really starting to feel uncomfortable about this situation.
I am now supervisor to the band 5 but she still goes running to the other 7.
Am I being paranoid? Should I be worried?
I feel like there is a back seat driver and someone watching over my shoulder.
