ds has had a lovely childminder for 3 years now. we were lucky to get her. at the time i was working full time and he had just started school. he had been looked after by his dad's gf for 6 months after a falling out with my in laws when they started taking over his life. his dad's gf was moving out and gave me three days to get a childminder. which i did and i was absolutely devestated that i had to change his school, although he had only been there a month. (it was the only way i could get a childminder) now ive only just this minute read a note from this childminder that shes not taking on any more children as she wants to give up minding. i got made redundant in may but i kept her on as i intended to go back to work and its so hard to get another childminder around here. plus ds really enjoys going there and the thought of moving him again makes me very unhappy. i know though that if she says she isnt going to look after him anymore theres no way i can pick him up from school, its too far...i will have to change him back to the school he originally went to. i dont want to do this to him...the last time i cried for 3 weeks solid. now i have the two of them its going to be even more awkward when i get another job...sigh. no answers i know but wanted to get that out!

being a parent is a real juggling act. Sorry you have to go through this again. Can you ask the childminder if she knows of anyone else who has vacancies ?

Have you tried contacting Ofsted for a list of chilminders in your area? How long is the notice period. That is do you have a month or a week to sort this out?

Maybe you could find another childminder to do the existing school run, rather than changing his school again.
