Is this bullying?

i work in retail part time I work every morning. The store closes at 6pm and the rest of the team take it in turns to work till 6pm.
A colleague of mine is constantly telling me how unfair it is that not all staff work till 6pm and how she is going to leave and get another job because of this.
I don't want to explain my reasons to her why I don't work afternoons but I've just had enough of her, she is making me feel like its my fault that she is leaving.

It's not bullying. Find a standard response when she moans, "Best of luck with that" or something else that shuts her down.

Her hours are between her and her manager; your hours are none of her business. It sounds as though she is trying to make you uncomfortable, so I'd class that as bullying, especially as you say it's constant (a one-off moan might not have been directed at you particularly).

Have you spoken to your manager about this?

No I haven't spoken to my manager I wasn't sure if it was worth mentioning I don't want to make things worse.

Sounds tough!

I wouldn't consider it bullying personally - a bit impolite but not one for the manager for me unless I'd tried to tackle it and failed.

Could you explain to her that when she says that, she's making you uncomfortable? Or just keep your distance from her?

That's what I'm trying to do as much as possible stay away from her and just get on with my work. I just hope she is not stirring it with the rest of the team.

It's annoying for sure - don't feed the behaviour by entering into dialogue over it and it should just go away.

I had this. Colleague kept going on about how they were the only one ever there all day, every day.

I went to our manager who pointed out what job and hours she had applied for and what I had applied for.

Manager came back and asked me to extend my hours slightly which I reluctantly agreed to and ironically colleague it turned out was working too few hours and now has to work more too.

So her complaining was a bit of karma back on her.

I really get annoyed with people who whinge about their hours when it's the job they apply for.
