We have less than 15 employees in our business, most work from home and a handful are work from home and office mixed. My job role has now incorporated promoting health, safety and well-being. I've worked for larger organisations and so I understand all the requirements re H&S but if you work for a very small business I'm interested to know what your business does in terms of promoting positive well-being. Does it produce infographics or circulate information via PowerPoint? I'm curious for ideas as I would like to fulfil this role to the best of my ability.

As you have all the statutory requirements in place I would focus on good regular 2 way communication with employees. Good managers have regular 1:2:1s and spot if their staff are not as happy as usual/ seem to be distracted. They also are approachable.

Given your small size it may not be financially viable but an Employee Assistance Programme can be a good benefit as it provides access to assistance in their personal lives e.g. financial advice.

We send our employees a document from HSE explaining how to set up their work station at home - we check they have read and implemented it. We will provide them with any equipment they need - they get to choose. They are covered for accidents at home.
We provide provide Medical Health Cover and Group Income protection insurance which comes with a Employee Assistance Programme which offers free GP advice and counselling.
To deal with uneven workloads/stress etc - we have a quick catch up every morning and we are trialling a happiness tracker atm the moment the aim is that we catch someone before they fall - it will rely on people being open with the team about how they are feeling, that's the bit I'm not convinced about - but the team are from a different generation to me so hopefully that won't be a problem.
We meet up for team dinners every couple of months. Generally they are a very talented, bright, funny bunch of people, so there's lots of laughs and light hearted moments. And we are always watching for people being unusually quiet/reserved - and we will pull them aside (coffee, lunch or drinks - our shout) to give them an opportunity to talk and allow us to explore what's going on.
We try hard to assign work that suits individual interested and give them opportunities to learn and grow and sometimes fail and succeed in a supportive environment.
We are open and honest in our dealings with the team - involve them in decision making, everyone is encouraged to have an opinion, share business strategy and reward them generously for their hard work.
